The DAS Trustees have agreed to increase the maximum amount to be awarded for each Collection Access Grant (CAG) from £5000 to £7500. This increase will apply to the next CAG with applications due by September 15 2024. The CAG, initially set at a maximum of £2000 per grant, started in 2014 to celebrate the Society’s 40th anniversary. As the Society heads towards its 50th anniversary, it seemed appropriate to raise the level of the grant. This is both a way of celebrating our birthday and showing our commitment to the decorative arts, 1850 to the present day, and particularly towards smaller, provincial museums.
Since the first CAG was awarded in 2014 to Blackwell, The Arts & Crafts House run by Lakeland Arts, for a research project on one of its bedrooms, the DAS has awarded over £90,000 in 23 grants for projects across a broad spectrum including new case work for collection displays, conservation, digitisation, publications and research. All these grants enhance public accessibility to museums collections. A full list of the grants the DAS has awarded is available on this website under Grants, Award History.
For details of how to apply for a CAG and other DAS grants, see the Grants section on this website.
