Visit to the William Morris Gallery Exhibition on Brangwyn and the Art of Japan
UK EVENT
Thu 11 May 2017
During the 1910s, Brangwyn met the Japanese artist Yoshijiro Urushibara (1888–1953): this led to a fruitful collaboration. The exhibition Sheer Pleasure: Frank Brangwyn and the Art of Japan examines how Brangwyn’s love of Japanese art influenced the printmaking techniques of both artists. Brangwyn donated to the Gallery his collection of rarely displayed Japanese prints and paintings and a decorative screen. The curatorial tour will include a private visit to the collection store to examine Brangwyn’s furniture. This event is generously sponsored by John and Hilary Everett.
