Visit to Kingston Museum & History Centre
UK EVENT
Wed 21 Feb 2018
Arts and Crafts designer Archibald Knox’s work for Liberty is well known; less so are his years teaching at Kingston upon Thames. Following his sudden departure in 1912, student Denise Tuckfield (later Wren) and others decamped and set up the Knox Guild of Craft and Design in Kingston Market Square. At a private view of the Kingston exhibition Hope for Beauty: Textile and Wallpaper Designs and Ceramics by Denise Wren, Chris Jordan will give an illustrated presentation on Knox, the Guild and Wren’s later life as a potter and designer. There will be an opportunity to explore the rest of the museum to see the Martinware and Muybridge photo displays.
