V&A TOUR OF HENRY WILLETT'S COLLECTION OF POPULAR POTTERY AND HANDLING SESSION
UK EVENT
Thu 15 Aug 2024
Simon Spier, Curator of Ceramics & Glass 1600-1800 will show us around his recently curated temporary display of British popular pottery. Henry Willett (1823-1905), a Victorian philanthropist and one of the founders of the Brighton Museum, amassed a vast collection of ceramics that reflected popular themes and events in British history. Ranging from satirical to patriotic and political, the objects included in the display give visitors an insight into 19th century British culture.
The visit will conclude with a handling session led by V&A curators, offering attendees a closer look and feel of 19th century popular pottery. The visit starts at 2.00 pm and will finish by 4.00 pm
