Private Study Visit to Bushey Museum & Art Gallery
UK EVENT
Wed 06 Feb 2019
The village of Bushey is primarily known as the creative inspiration of much fine art. Chris Jordan and curators Pat and Tony Woollard will host a handling session of recent acquisitions of ceramics by Fred Passenger (ex De Morgan) at Bushey Heath Pottery, metalwork by Hugh Wallis and textile/wallpaper designs of polymath Sir Hubert Herkomer. This will be followed by an overview of Herkomer’s Gothic Revival furniture, pioneer film-making and founding of the European Grand Prix. After lunch we will walk to Herkomer’s nearby garden designed by Thomas Mawson, the remaining entrance of his house designed by Henry Hobson Richardson, his film studio and former workshop.
