Christ’s Hospital and Brangwyn Murals
UK EVENT
Wed 11 Sep 2019
Christ’s Hospital school and its distinctive uniform date back to 1552. The current campus was designed by Aston Webb and E. Ingress Bell at the turn of the 20th century and Brangwyn painted 16 mural panels for the chapel. Libby Horner will give a talk about the murals in the chapel itself and museum curator, Laura Kidner, will talk about Webb and Bell, the ethos and history of the school and famous past students. Lunch in the Dining Hall will showcase an 86ft-long painting by Antonio Verrio. After the daily band parade, we will see a special exhibition of Brangwyn’s cartoons and other works in the museum.
