Robin Wyatt’s walk will take us past the homes and studios of some of the numerous practitioners of fine and decorative arts who have lived and worked in Chelsea, including Rossetti, Sickert and Munnings. We shall see impressive sculptures, and houses by such architects as Philip Webb and Norman Shaw, while a special visit to the Church of Our Most Holy Redeemer and St Thomas More, designed by Edward Goldie in 1895 on the site of the De Morgan pottery, will reveal recent carvings by Ken Thompson, influenced by Eric Gill. The walk will finish with wine at the historic London Sketch Club, a private members’ club where the fascinating interior has a frieze of silhouette portraits of past members, including Dulac, Bateman, Hassall and other eminent graphic artists.
