A VISIT TO THE ASHMOLEAN MUSEUM AND THE NEMON STUDIO AND ARCHIVE, OXFORD
UK EVENT
Tue 21 Jun 2022
This all-day visit to Oxford will begin at the Ashmolean Museum, where curator Matthew Winterbottom will show us the 19th Century galleries, including the acquisitions from the Albert Dawson Collection. From there the group will go to Boars Hill for lunch, before a private tour of the Nemon Studio and Archive. Oscar Nemon maintained his studio there during his international career as a sculptor: his subjects included Churchill and Freud. A family member will give a tour which introduces his life and examples of his work before moving to the recreation of his studio, showing Nemon’s tools and maquettes. There is also time in the Archive for exploration of drawings and other work. The visit concludes with tea at the Nemon Studio Museum.
