A PRIVATE TOUR OF CHARLES JENCKS’S COSMIC HOUSE, LONDON

Charles Jencks (1939–2019), architect, landscape designer, architectural theorist, critic and promoter of postmodernism, totally remodelled his 19th Century family house between 1979 and 1984 with the help of several of his architectural friends. In keeping with his wishes, the house – renamed The Cosmic House because of the many levels of meaning relating to cosmic time that Jencks layered into the interior of the building – opened to the public in September 2021. Prior to the visit we will go on a short walking tour around the area (part of the Ladbroke Estate), to set the
house in its geographical context.
